What to Do While You Wait on God

Are you in a season of waiting? You may think there is nothing important to do while you wait, but there is! There are seasons for everything in life, and waiting is one of the many seasons you may encounter, not once, but time and time again. Your waiting season is as important as all other seasons in your life. In each season you find yourself in, you’ll be waiting for something to come to pass in your next season.

While you wait for that next thing, what are you working on in the current season? What mission are you pursuing to fulfill? What business idea can you start building on?

If you don’t get busy with what you’re called to now, that thing you’re waiting for will always be the center of your focus. It’ll consume your thoughts and your actions. You may find that you become engulfed with that desire and you eventually, lose sight of the importance and significance of the present.

God knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb, and He knew how each day of your life will pan out. He also works every detail of your life for your good. With that, you can be certain that your waiting season is for good.

What to do While You Wait:

  1. Do meaningful and productive work
    • Waiting isn’t just about waiting and doing nothing. Waiting is more about working and preparation. While you wait, fill your time with productive work. You may be waiting on God to provide direction for your next step in life. However, you should be growing and learning in all areas of your life.
    • Read and study the word, pray, and find communities to fellowship with.
  2. Invest in your self-development
    • While you wait, cultivate a closer relationship with God (Ephesians 1:17), and learn more about yourself (likes, dislikes, wants, needs, etc.) and other aspects of your calling.
    • Take time to explore job opportunities. Learn from others who are on a similar career path. Talk with business people going on the journey you envision. Explore new interests. There are a lot of great things you can do while you wait.
    • By learning, you are expanding your knowledge tank and watering what God has already given you. When you water your seeds, the harvest in return will be plenty.
  3. Know that, God is able and will perform that thing you’re expecting of him
    • Ephesians 3:20 (NJKV)- Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us

While you wait, God will sustain you and grant you the capacity to do great work for Him (Daniel 11:32).

xoxo
